A for about this blog and the challenge

This blog began as a wiki back in the early 2000s when I was a teacher at Sorell School. Part of my history teaching involved students interviewing members of the community. They wrote up the information gathered from interviews to add to the wiki. When wikispaces closed down, the information was copied and this blog was begun. The earliest posts are from the students but those since 2021 have been written by me (Sue).

I had mentioned the blog to members of the Sorell Historical Society through their Facebook page and asked for information on topics I have written about. But when I saw this challenge, I thought this would be a great way to get more of the community involved.

A session was run by the Society where I showed the blog and explained how people could write blog posts using Word, or Google Docs etc and then sent to me so I could put in the actual blog. The only proviso was the topic had to relate to something, somewhere or someone in the Sorell municipality. You will be able to read their posts over the coming month. Maybe next year, more community members will write some posts.

I will also be writing some abbreviated posts that might lead to other posts already published by the students.

Hope the readers enjoy these posts about the municipality of Sorell.
